I was rasied in Echo Park and attended Logan Street School from 1946 to 1953.  Those first years the old wooden "barn" school building was still fully used, while later the second floor was no longer holding classes becasue the building was a fire trap, but part of the frist floor and basement were still in use.  I'm looking for photos of that old building which dates back to around 1900.  If found please email to bobray1461@aol.com  After Logan I attended Thomas Star King when it was a Jr. High School and the Belmont when it was still the classic old school with the beautiful tower.

I lived in Echo Park from 1954-1958.  Attended Logan Street school until the third grade.  I don't have any pictures of the school.  I remember having a physical education class upstairs in the old building.  I was hit by a baseball bat while playing at the schoolyard across the street from the school. Oscar Mayer would drive his wiener mobile after school.  I remember one teacher, Mr. Moreno.

I taught at Logan St. School from 1990 - 2008.  On June 1, 2013 Logan will be celebrating its 125th anniversary.  The Echo Park community is invited, particularly if you are an alumnus/a, a past parent, a former teacher or staff member.  The event begins at 10:00 am.  While we know that Logan is the oldest school in Echo Park, we are wondering if there are other public buildings that pre-date 1888
